This Privacy Policy explains what information StudyLab24 Typing (the "Typing Tool"), a sub-service of StudyLab24, collects and how it is used. By using the Typing Tool you agree to the practices described here. No account or personal information is required to use this tool.
1. Information we collect
We do not require registration and we do not ask for your name, email address or any personally identifiable information. That said, like most websites, some data is collected automatically or stored locally in your browser:
- Usage data — pages visited, buttons clicked and time spent, collected through Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager.
- Device & browser info — browser type, device type, operating system and screen resolution, used to fix compatibility issues.
- IP address — may be logged by analytics and hosting infrastructure; we do not use it to identify you personally.
- Cookies — Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish sessions. See Section 5.
- Local device storage (localStorage) — your theme preference, sound setting, recent typing sessions, your personal-best "ghost" run, and daily-challenge completion status are all saved directly in your browser using
localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not sent to our servers or any third party. Clearing your browser data will erase it.
2. How we use data
Any data collected is used solely to understand how the Typing Tool is used, improve performance, fix bugs, and monitor traffic for infrastructure purposes. We do not sell, rent or share data with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Google Analytics & Google Tag Manager
This site uses Google Analytics (GA4) and Google Tag Manager to collect anonymised usage statistics such as session duration and pages visited. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
4. Cookies
Cookies are used primarily through Google Analytics. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; disabling them will not stop the typing test itself from working, since the test runs entirely client-side.
5. Children's privacy
The Typing Tool is suitable for users of all ages, including students and children, and is safe for classroom use since no account or personal data is required. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
6. Third-party links
The Typing Tool links to studylab24.com and other external resources. Once you leave typing.studylab24.com, this Privacy Policy no longer applies — please review the privacy policy of any site you visit.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time; changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Typing Tool after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
